The New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine (NZSATCM) is offering a part time course for continuing education.
This course is delivered online using webinars, e-forums, online dissemination, Skype and e-mail supported learning.
Entry requirements: Diploma or Bachelor’s qualification in a Chinese medicine subject
This online course consists of the following subjects:
Contemporary Perspectives in Complementary & Alternative Medicine
Models of health, philosophy and paradigms influence the delivery of healthcare and determine what is seen as acceptable evidence and research. This subject explores how Chinese medicine positions itself within Complementary and Alternative medicine (CAM) and Western medicine. This also explores how to communicate with western health practitioners about current Chinese medical research and how to develop appropriate research questions to reflect Chinese medicine practice.
Chinese Medicine for Women's Health or Chinese Medicine for Musculoskeletal Health
This course extends knowledge and professional competency within approaches to clinical practice in Chinese medicine. Participation in workshops will be facilitated by expert practitioners and supported by work-based learning activities that will help support incorporation of evidence- based innovative approaches into practice.
These courses are being offered for those practitioners who would like to explore the use of research within their clinical practice and for those interested in applying for the Masters in Health Science (Chinese medicine) but would like to trial online education before committing themselves.
